Abstract artwork in acrylic on high quality linen stretched on wood.
For this artwork I am inspired by the idea that we could be creating a kind of Dark Ages for humanity. By continuing our destruction of nature and becoming more and more dependant on technology. If we are only relying on technology while our ecosystems are collapsing, this could lead to a collapse of our existing civilisation and result in new dark ages.

I found inspiration in the fact that the whole world is in quarantine now due to COVID-19. As a result we might start to realise even more how precious and important freedom for humans as well as for animals is.

Large abstract multi-paneled painting in acrylic and vintage silk kimono fabric on separate canvases mounted together
This artwork consists of different pieces of canvas. These canvases are painted at the same time in one flow – with only the colour black – and then separated and mounted together in a different way to create a new piece. These painted canvases are mixed with pieces with very old silk vintage kimono fabric.
The idea behind this artwork is the ‘reconstruction of our reality’. If we wish to change our world, first we have to change the idea of ‘reality’ that defines it.
Signed on the back. Varnished for protection. Ready to hang, no frame required. The stability of the artwork is guaranteed, since solid mounting material and extra wooden planks are used.

For this series I found inspiration in our common goal to save our planet. The titles of these artworks refer to commandments. These commandments are formulated by myself and they might be the tools to reach our common goal.
Eppur si move (Still It Moves) is a phrase attributed to the Italian mathematician, physicist and philosopher Galileo Galilei (1564–1642) in 1633 after being forced to recant his claims that the Earth moves around the Sun rather than the converse during the Galileo affair.
This is one of my action paintings. ‘Action painting, also called “gestural abstraction”, is a style of painting in which paint is spontaneously dribbled, splashed or smeared onto the canvas, rather than being carefully applied. The resulting work often emphasizes the physical act of painting itself as an essential aspect of the finished work or concern of its artist.’

Explanation of Rigpa on wikipedia:
Rigpa (Skt. vidyā; Tib. རིག་པ་, Wyl. rig pa) is a Tibetan word, which in general means ‘intelligence’ or ‘awareness’. In Dzogchen, however, the highest teachings in the Buddhist tradition of Tibet, rigpa has a deeper connotation, ‘the innermost nature of the mind’. The whole of the teaching of Buddha is directed towards realizing this, our ultimate nature, the state of omniscience or enlightenment—a truth so universal, so primordial that it goes beyond all limits, and beyond even religion itself.

The title refers to ‘The Savage Mind’ (French: La Pensée Sauvage) is a 1962 work of structural anthropology by Claude Lévi-Strauss.
An abstract work in acrylic, oil and ink.
Inspired by oriental art. Zen Art is for me a very important source of inspiration. In this work I have chosen to combine the hazy and diffuse effect with strong gestural lines. The title refers to the Samurai.

The title is inspired by the movie “Space Odyssey, 2001” of Stanley Kubrick.
The painting has a appearance of outer space.
I am fascinated by artificial intelligence and what it means for us as humans to deal with our own creations that may supersede us.
Abstract painting in oil. For this painting I found inspiration in the beautiful poem ‘When I Have Fears‘ of John Keats. ‘When I have fears that I may cease to be Before my pen has glean’d my teeming brain, Before high-piled books, in charactery, Hold like rich garners the full ripen’d grain; When I behold, upon the night’s starr’d face, Huge cloudy symbols of a high romance, And think that I may never live to trace Their shadows, with the magic hand of chance; And when I feel, fair creature of an hour, That I shall never look upon thee more, Never have relish in the faery power Of unreflecting love;–then on the shore Of the wide world I stand alone, and think Till love and fame to nothingness do sink.’
John Keats
In this abstract painting I aimed for a right balance between opposites. Black and white, thick and thin, shadow and light….to reach a composition in which apparently opposites are actually complementary.
Large installation (collage) made of Oil, Acrylic, Gesso, Textile, Ink, Paper, (Antique) Photos, Animal Skin (Snake) on canvas. The canvas consists of different canvases stretched on wood and securely attached to each other.
Collage made of gesso, acrylic, oil paint, fabric, paper and cardboard. The blue square in the middle resembles a picture of a night sky with stars. This image formed by soaking fabric in blue paint and adding white sparks. I like to work on a collage without preconceived plan; all that occurs is formed spontaneously.
